| science and technology cooperation between Beijing and Shanxi is progressed smoothly |

Since the frame agreement of science and technology cooperation between Beijing and Shanxi was formally signed, both sides had completed multiple cooperations, having organized much investigation and diagnosis, confirmed the first key cooperation projects in this January, and signed formally the agreements of “agriculture S&T cooperation” and “saving energy and protecting environment”. Science and technology cooperation had got the initial achievements.
Now the cooperative projects in various fields are carried on orderly. In aspect of saving energy and protecting environment, Beijing Shenwu Thermal Energy Technology Company has formed the furnace retrofit scheme of Yangquan City, and this scheme has passed the experts evaluation. According to the evaluation of experts, this technology not only has improved the product structure of Chinese refractory, but also has promoted the property. The retrofitted furnace through a series of technologies can save energy by 15%, increase combustion efficiency above 90%, reduce emission by 15%-20%, with the discharge dust after combustion only 100mg/m3, lower than 200mg/m3 -emission standard Yangquan stipulated. It is reported that there are 260 companies to retrofit furnace. Beijing Shenwu Thermal Energy Technology Company is going to complete retrofitting of 60—70 companies by the end of this year. The local government expressed, if the retrofitting achieves expected effect, the government would increase investment.
In aspect of agriculture S&T cooperation, Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forest Scientific Research has already provided improved varieties of over 20 kinds and 30 species to Yangquan City, and completed the local seed sowing. It is predicted that the first improved varieties will be harvested in April and May. Furthermore, construction of vegetable greenhouse is went on smoothly, and the improved varieties are gradually enrolled. It is predicted that before the end of this year, Greenhouse Vegetables supported by Beijing technology will become another crystallization of science and technology cooperation between Beijing and Shanxi. Moreover, Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forest Scientific Research gave the special guidance and training on introduction of the improved varieties, and it aroused a great response from the local. Shanxi Science and Technology Bureau would continue to support this work.
