Mayor Fan especially looks back the achievement in the last year. In 2002, gross domestic product of Beijing broke through 300 billion yuan, and increasing rate was great than 10%, fiscal revenue increased 24%. Taking the high-new technique industry as example, the new enterprise added 3000 in the last year mainly distributed in electrical communication, software, biomedicine and new material. The high-new technical enterprise contributes the GDP 120billion yuan, which increased 13% than last year.
In 2002, Beijing strived to promote the work on the creation of policy, management, system, and to build sound policy environment and district environment, and to supply the wide space for the international technological exchange and cooperation. In the last year, Beijing have received a lot of advanced government delegation and the famous multinational company delegation; cooperated with the government and enterprises from the United State, Russia, German, France, Britain, Australia on these fields such as green Olympics, energy development, information technique, biomedicine, social development; and managed to cooperative contract with IBM, SUN, Oracle, Microsoft. Up to the end 2002, more than 50 multinational company set their research agency in Beijing. Beijing has become into the most density district of the science and technology resources and the most activity district of the creation, and the focus of the global investors.
Mayor Fan hoped the technical diplomat as the bridge to introduce the abroad excellent technical fruit and advanced technical logos into Beijing, which can create the human prosperity and social progress by continually strengthen the exchange and cooperation. The cochairman of the Beijing science association Tian Xiaoping addressed at the meeting to wish the cooperation last forever.
