| Well Development of High-Tech Industry in Chaoyang District |
| | Establishing High-tech industrial base is one of the main contents of function identification of Chaoyang District. The Science & Technology Commission of Chaoyang District put emphasis on promoting the development of high-tech industry through policy guidance and service impulse. The development of high-tech industry in Chaoyang District showed the following characters in 2006: 1. The distribution of high-tech enterprises is science parks-centered and spreading around the city. Up to the end of 2006, there are 955 high-tech enterprises in Chaoyang District, among which 820 are located in science parks, accounting for 85.86% of all high-tech enterprises. Annual revenue of high-tech enterprises for the year of 2006 is RMB 57,906,000,000. Annual revenue for high-tech enterprises located in science parks is RMB 54,995,000,000, which accounts for 94.97% of the total amount of annual revenue for all high-tech enterprises. Among them RMB 52,500,000,000 are attributed to high-tech enterprises located in Electronic City and RMB 2,495,000,000 are attributed to high-tech enterprises located in Jjanxiang Science Park. The total amount of annual revenue for the enterprises located outside the science parks is RMB 2,911,000,000. 2. The enterprises’ development and revenue showed the character of capital market, which is characterized by large-scale operation and highly concentrative industry structure and economy scale. 80% of the economic total amount is attributed to the enterprises with annual revenue more than RMB 100,000,000, which demonstrates the remarkable effect of cluster scale. R&D investment made by medium-sized and large enterprises is higher than those made by majority of small High-tech enterprises. As a result, the medium-sized and large enterprises are superior to small ones in both capital and technology aspects. 3. As to the industry classification, new developing industries such as electronic information industry hold a dominant position. Among all high-tech enterprises, electronic information enterprises account for over 60%, advanced manufacturing enterprises accounts for 7%, other industries including new materials, biology medicine, etc accounts for 33%. 4. The development of high-tech enterprises is imbalance. Because of preferable policies science parks, high-tech enterprises located in science parks have unique advantages. However, the excessive intensive development model in science parks resulted in the problems such as high housing price, inconvenient traffic, etc. The replacement of area intensive development model by guidance in technology sector can resolve such problems effectively, which will finally balance the development of high-tech enterprises.
